Day 1: Sunday

Depart JFK International Airport, New York on an Afrinat International Airlines flight at midnight to Banjul, Gambia

Day 2: Monday

Arrival at Banjul International Airport at 11.45 a.m. Upon completion of immigration and customs formalities, you will be met by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After check in the group will spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Evening Welcome Dinner and Orientation during which you will meet the tour guides and personnel who will assist you during your visit to The Gambia.

After dinner, the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 3: Tuesday

After an early breakfast, we will start our tour of The Gambia by visiting the Abuko Nature Reserve located outside Banjul. The nature reserve provides visitors with a good introduction to the flora and fauna of the country, and also provides insights into its biodiversity.

After lunch, we will visit the SOS Village at Bakoteh. to learn how this social development project impacts the lives of Gambian mothers and children who live there.

We will return to Banjul in the early evening. After dinner, the rest of the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 4: Wednesday

After an early breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and begin our journey by motor coach to Dakar, Senegal

Upon arrival in Dakar, check in to our hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

After dinner the evening can be spent sampling nightlife in Dakar.

Day 5: Thursday

After breakfast we will embark on a full day visit to Goree Island. This infamous island shaped like the African continent, was the last view of Africa seen by captured men and women taken to a life of Slavery in the Americas and Caribbean. We will go on a short cruise to the island and visit the Slave Houses and Forts utilized for the Slave Trade. We will also visit the Door of No Return and museums to learn more about the island's past through a lecture given by curator Joseph N'Diaye.

Enjoy lunch at an island restaurant and spend the rest of the afternoon walking around the island interacting with its inhabitants or relaxing on the beach. Upon completion of the island tour, we will take an early evening cruise back to Dakar.

After dinner, the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 6: Friday

After Breakfast, we embark on an overland trip to the mysterious Pink Lake. This incredible rose-colored body of water surrounded by sand dunes and a Boabob Forest, is purported to have unique floating capabilities. We will view the unique techniques used by village women to harvest salt.

After lunch at a restaurant with views of the lake, we will go on a 4-wheel driving experience over undulating sand dunes and also visit a typical Fulani Village to gain exposure to the culture and lifestyle of this nomadic tribal group. Late afternoon return to Dakar.

After dinner, the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 7: Saturday

After breakfast, we will start our city tour of Dakar. We will visit several venues of interest including the Presidential Palace, African Museum, the Gate of the New Millennium, the Medina, the Sand Painting Gallery and Soumbedioune Village.

After lunch at a traditional Senegalese restaurant, we will spend the rest of the afternoon at the Arts and Crafts center shopping for arts, crafts, fashions and jewelry.

After dinner, the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 8: Sunday

After an early breakfast and check out of our hotel, we will depart for Banjul, the capital city of Gambia. We will make a stopover at the village of Juffureh. The inhabitants of this village were abducted and sold into Slavery. This village's fame derives from its status as the traced origin of Kunta Kinteh, the ancestor of Alex Haley, the African American author of the novel Roots. The film Roots was based on this novel.

We will continue on our journey to Banjul, and upon arrival check into our hotel.

After dinner, the evening will be spent at leisure.

Day 9: Monday

The day will be spent on an orientation tour of Banjul, Serrekunda and Bakau. We will visit the National Museum and Tourist Market where you can purchase arts and crafts. From there we will go on to Serrekunda the most densely populated town in Gambia and a center for the production of Tye and Dye fabric and beautiful Batik cottons. Before returning to our hotel we will stop at the Katchically Crocodile Pool.

Early evening check out of hotel and transfer to Banjul International Airport for check in for 10.45 p.m. Afrinat International Airlines flight to JFK International Airport in New York.

After your Farewell Dinner, final transfer to the airport to board the New York bound flight.
